Cirque du Soleil Amaluna

Why see Cirque du Soleil Amaluna?

CELEBRATING THE FEMININE MYSTIQUE THROUGH CIRQUE

Inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest and elements of Romeo and Juliet, Cirque du Soleil's Amaluna invites you to a mysterious island ruled by goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon where the natural elements - particularly water - play a huge role in creating this unforgettable show.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Their god-queen, Prospera, is in the middle of directing her daughter Miranda's coming-of-age ceremony in a rite that honours femininity, renewal, rebirth and marks the passing of these insights and values from one generation to the next.

In the wake of a storm caused by Prospera, a group of young men seek refuge on the island, triggering an epic, emotional story of love between Prospera's daughter and a brave young suitor called Romeo. As the survivors explore their surroundings they encounter various mythical creatures, including Malaysian firebirds, peacock witches and fearsome Amazonian warrior women. All this is conveyed through a vast range of circus techniques and acts include waterbowls, juggling, aerial silks and Chinese climbing poles.

Amaluna was great!

Enjoyed another great traveling show in Winnipeg last night. It was really good. The seating was good, with more leg room than the last show we attended. I don't think there was a bad seat in the house! The only issue was getting out of the parking lot. 2 exits and all those cars, it took forever to get out. I would never park in the gates again. In the time that we waited for our turn, we could have easily walked to the Outlet mall or even Ikea parking lot and still had a good head start on the drive home! Overall a fantastic evening! We paid full price for tickets as we bought them as soon as they announced the show, and now they are at least 20 cheaper per seat. I won't do that again! ... Read more

Unorganized venue. Parking rip off

This was our 1st time going to one of these shows. Even though I never followed any story line I still thought the show was outstanding. Very entertaining. The venue was not very good. Seating was very tight. We moved to an empty section at intermission to breathe. Washrooms were lacking. Concessions over priced. Parking very unorganized. Unorganized from the directions where to park to the $15 that they charged. Once you arrive at the tent they expect you to buy a parking pass for $15 that you have to show on the way out. My suggestion is don't buy the pass. Exiting was chaotic & I never saw anybody being asked to show their pass. I guess that explains why nobody was purchasing a pass. ... Read more

LOVED It!

We are HUGE Cirque fans & our seats were in the front row tonight. At first my husband said he would rather be back a little & then very quickly into the show he said “no, these seats are amazing!” We’ve been to so many show I can’t keep track! I thought the music & performers were amazing! I loved how the performances were different from the other shows. I’ll be honest in that the clowns were just ok & I didn’t get some of the jokes & the balancing act was a bit long but impressive! I would rather have seen another acrobatic act. That was more for America’s Got Talent. All in all we loved it! ... Read more
